No, the Gothe Residency of the Arts (GROTA) is not a cult. GROTA is a dedicated artistic platform that focuses on fostering and revitalizing the creative spirits of artists who explore themes often considered dark or unconventional. Our mission is to provide a supportive, transformative space for artists to collaborate, create, and share their work with an appreciative community. We emphasize creativity, personal growth, and artistic freedom, operating within a structured framework that promotes respect, inclusivity, and ethical behavior. Our programs, including residencies and affiliated events, are designed to empower artists and celebrate the depth and diversity of dark creative arts without any religious or dogmatic affiliations.

Where will GROTA be located?

Currently, the residency location is undetermined due to budget and pre-funding constraints. Safety and security are our top priorities, so we are considering various options worldwide, including Northern US, Canada, Scotland, Switzerland, and more. As our Patreon gains more support, we will be able to collaborate with experts and tour potential properties. We’ll keep our supporters updated throughout the whole process as well!

When will GROTA be open for applications?

Once funded, we will move forward with touring and securing a property to house our legacy of artists. It is hard to determine how long this process will take, or how many renovations will be necessary before the residency will be ready for applications. Patreon Supporters will receive exclusive updates along every step of the way. We are hoping at the very earliest to open our doors in the Fall of 2025.

How old will I need to be to apply?

Generally, Applicants will need to be at least 18 years or older at the time of the residency. More information will be available once our applications page goes live.

How much will it cost to attend?

The following are estimations based on the necessary fees and costs we need to operate successfully (financially), and are based on our base funding goal, if stretch goals are met, these details are subject to change accordingly! Grants and fee waivers may become available for low-income residents and those facing financial strains. No, not at all! We consider anyone who may identify themself as a ‘’dark creative spirit’’ to be a dark creative spirit. If you later apply to our residency, we will assume you are interested in the unique experiences and aesthetics we promise to offer as a residency tailored to the dark creative spirit. Your exact artistic, aesthetic, and stylistic preferences will be inherently understood as unique to you! Our residency is not in place to define or limit what goth or any other dark-based subculture entails. ‘’Gothe’’ is simply the last name and sentiment of Gothe Residency of the Art’s founder,
